Ancestral Memories: Guided Floor Talk with Susan Taylor

event date:
Thursday, 18 January 2018 - 11:00am

Join our excellent gallery volunteer, Susan Taylor, as she guides you through the artmaking of Marion Manifold's exhibition Ancestral Memories. As you wander through the dreamscape of Marion's expansive world, Susan will encourage you to look, think and interpret the works on display.

Why might an artist choose the images that he/she does?
Are there objects or images that you identify with that reflect you and your personality?

Through fun, interactive activities, you will look closely at the artist’s work and contemplate its concepts through our own personal perspectives. This tour aims to provide an in-depth understanding of Marion's practice, as well as encouraging visitors to critically engage with artworks through informative discussions and creative participation. Join us and learn something new, try something exciting and experience a new way of looking at and approaching art!

Marion is a prominent printmaker and art historian from South West Victoria, exploring themes of female identity, body image, history and memory through the creations of her multifaceted visual surfaces.
