Join artist Peter Tyndall for an intimate guided tour of his exhibition The Blue Horizon for The Regional.
Peter Tyndall is one of Australia’s most influential artists, renowned for his unique and thought-provoking explorations of the recursive relationship between art, language and meaning. Refined over five decades, Tyndall’s practice employs a framework comprised of a set of rigorous symbols, which serve as signifiers of his view of the world.
For The Regional, Tyndall presents a deeply personal and emotionally charged work. The Blue Horizon is based on a poem written by his late partner, Christine, while the two were holidaying in 2010 at Bridgewater Bay in south-west Victoria, on the lands of the Gunditjmara peoples. Fifteen years later, in May 2025, Tyndall returned to Bridgwater Bay to scatter Christine’s ashes, along with those of her mother Joy, father Les and beloved dog Susie. This significant work recognises the profound importance family has played and continues to play in Tyndall’s life and practice, while advancing his life-long quest to better understand our deep interconnection with all that surrounds us—and beyond.
