Small acts of resistance is a portrait series amplifying multi-species gestures across video installation and photography. Featured works include the titular triptych photographic series which plays on the traditional trifold frames of both the conventional family portrait and religious altarpiece to position non-conforming pathways as sites of reworlding. The video installation Lovers, examines the visceral language of intimacy and agency between horses during mating season. In presenting these works together, contemporary themes of identity, inter-subjectivity and entanglement will unify Gebhardt’s practice in a bold new way.
